Parkrun is a great Saturday morning activity, and the whole family can get involved, whether through running, walking, or volunteering.
All Parkruns are 5 km and start at 9 am every Saturday. They are free to take part in, and you get a time after each event so you can be competitive with yourself (or with your family and friends) to try and beat your time each week.
The format of Parkrun is simple: register once, print your barcode, then turn up and take part wherever you want, whenever you want, and wear whatever you want!
Everyone is welcome at Parkrun, no matter their age. (Under-11s need to be accompanied by adults.)
We are very lucky to have many Parkruns in Norfolk, both adult ones that take place every Saturday at 9 am, and Junior ones that take place every Sunday at 9 am. Below is our Top five with everything you need to know.
The run takes place in the grounds of Holkham Hall. Parking is free, and the run starts by the lake. It's a one-lap, undulating course with spectacular views along the way. Once you have run, jogged, or walked around the course and scanned your barcode, head to the Courtyard Cafe for a well-deserved coffee and maybe a slice of cake!
9am every Saturday. Free Parking for Parkrun.
Set in the beautiful but hilly Sheringham Park, it is definitely a more challenging parkrun, but the views are well worth it. It’s made even more spectacular during the Rhododendron season. Start and finish near the Visitor Centre. Prepare yourself for a stunning one-lap route through historic parkland, wooded tracks and breathtaking coastal scenery!
You can grab a coffee when you finish in the Cafe. Parking is free until 10am.
9am every Saturday.
This is one of the fastest Parkruns in Norfolk. It takes place in the Walks Park in Kings Lynn. It consists of three Laps and is all on tarmac. It's definitely a good choice if you’re looking for a 5km PB. You will definitely deserve a treat after that, and you won't have far to go - the Cafe in the park will be open for you to refuel!
Every Saturday at 9am. Parking is free on the street.
Set in the Blicking Estate, the start is 600m from the car park but is well signposted.
The course is almost two laps of the mausoleum walk on mixed terrain. En route, you will see breathtaking views over Moorgate towards the River Bure. Blickling Parkrun is excellent for anyone who likes to put in a good sprint finish, as the end is a downhill straight! After park run, head to the Muddy Boots Cafe, it’s a great social event and an excuse to have a coffee before heading home!
Every Saturday at 9am. Parking is £5. Coins only. Free parking for National Trust members.
Taking place in Eaton Park, it is a free 2km walk/jog or run for 4-14 year olds. It is a 1.5 lap anti-clockwise flat course that starts near the bandstand on the South Park Avenue side of Eaton Park. Parents can accompany young children if needed. Ensure your child has their barcode so it can be scanned after their run, and they will receive their time.
Every Sunday 9am. Free Parking in the Eaton Park carparks
